Integrating Native Plants into Neighborhood Landscapes
Do you want to integrate native plantings into your home landscape? Lindsey Kerr, horticultural educator, will share her knowledge and experience to help you select the right plants for your garden and explore design strategies to make native plantings look intentional.
Presentation Overview:
We know that native plants offer tremendous benefits, but how do we successfully incorporate them into our neighborhood landscapes? Lindsey Kerr will discuss plant selection, structural elements, and techniques to prevent a flopping, weedy appearance. At the meeting, you will learn where to find native plants, which aggressive native species require caution, and how to integrate annual flowers that can support pollinators. Leave with practical tips and resources for creating attractive, sustainable landscapes that balance ecological value with curb appeal.
Speaker: Lindsey Kerr, MSU Extension Consumer Horticulture Educator
Lindsey is the MSU Extension Consumer Horticulture Educator based out of Wayne County, Michigan. She was born and raised in Ann Arbor. Before coming to MSU, she worked as a horticulturist at private estates and public gardens. She has a background in historic preservation of landscapes and public gardens. She has a BA in history from the College of Wooster, a Master of Historic Preservation degree from the University of Georgia, and an MS in Public Horticulture from the University of Delaware.

Note on lunch menu option changes:
There will be a change in menu options for our luncheons at City Club this year beginning in September. Instead of our typical buffet, we will be offering three plated menu options each month for you to choose from. There will always be a vegetarian option available and the price will remain the same at $22. The options each month will be listed on our website. Make your selection and proceed to the checkout as you normally would. We will have a printout of the choices that everyone made in case your choice slips your mind.
Upon entering the City Club, cards with your menu choice will be available for you to pick up. Please take this to your table with you and place it on the table. This will enable the servers to be sure to serve the correct meal to you.
Lunch begins at: 11:30pm
Presentation begins at: 12:30pm ~ Light refreshments will be served
